PAC-P71

P.A.C. P71

Programmable Automation Controller up to 16 axes for servo motors or 6 axes for stepper motors
Opto-isolated digital I/O: up to 16 inputs and/or 8 24Volt outputs
Analog I/O: up to 6 inputs and 4 outputs

The P71 module is a Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) that integrates a CPU module, an opto-isolated digital I/O module, an analog I/O module, and motion control (DC/Brushless or Stepping).

It is based on a state-of-the-art 666 MHz ZYNQ microprocessor.

It is an intelligent, removable unit for complete management of an automatic machine. It can be used as a stand-alone control system or as a node of an industrial LEOMATIC PNC System7.

It can independently execute a logic program (PLC) and simultaneously control independent or interpolated motors. It can acquire up to 6 incremental encoders as feedback or as independent master axes.

It is fully enclosed in a DIN-rail-ready housing, measuring 101 x 22.5 x 120 mm.

Leomatic provides a free software suite for Windows PCs, which includes technical manuals, programming examples and utilities (PncTool for module configuration, programming, testing and diagnostics; LAB for editing and testing PLC logic).
It is possible, upon request, to customize the user firmware and implement additional communication protocols to external devices.

product information

  • Multi-tasking operating system for managing:
    - User-programmable PLC logic with runtime executable test/debug functions as well.
    - High-performance motion control.
    - Data and parameters (recipes and machine data) stored on mass memory (microSD).
    - Access to microSD from Host, in mass-storage mode.
    - Retentive data retention in buffered memory
    - Clock and calendar
    - Mass memory management (flash memory or microSD)
  • Advanced testing and diagnostic functions, also executable run-time in the field, for efficient service interventions.
  • Tracing functionality for monitoring a set of variables using oscilloscope-type instruments.
  • Ability to expand application firmware with new features for specific applications and to implement new communication protocols.
  • Update application firmware directly from PC or through microSD.
  • The use of the ZYNQ microprocessor ensures very high processing speeds: the motor control loop is typically 100 µs (min 100 µs - max 4 ms).
  • Its rich set of communication ports enables its connection to various external Host devices (CPUs, PCs, Operator Panels, PLCs).
  • Possibility of connecting multiple P71 modules (max 128) on both CANopen network (with DS301 and DS302 standards) and CANBus network (with Leomatic proprietary protocol).
  • Ability to set the speed and acceleration parameters of the PID & Feed-Forward algorithms to tailor the feedback system to the desired response characteristics.
  • Possibility to change speed, acceleration, deceleration, position to be reached, feedback loop parameters, software end-of-stroke at any time, even during movements.
  • Ability to calibrate each axis to its own reference micro, with two different modes:
    - by activating an auto-calibration cycle, with automatic search of the micro in the desired direction;
    - by passing the axis over the reference micro, at any speed.
  • The reference micro, normal open or normal closed, can be connected directly to any on-board digital input. To achieve more accurate calibration, the encoder's "zero mark" search can be set.
  • Configuration, testing, and tuning operations can be carried out using special software tools for Windows PCs.
  • Processor: Xilinx Zynq-7000 SoC (ARM Dual Core @ 667 MHz + FPGA).
